Pétanque

It’s been a busy Winter…. We had a Petanque Doubles Competition, where Caron Jennings and Phil Wattis showed the way as worthy winners beating Ray Morgan and Les Guest.

During the cold and ice, we held a singles competition. Amazingly, 32 hardy competitors took part. The conclusion was Caron “Balls of Steel” Jennings beating Ray “Great balls of fire” in the final, watched by 24 cold spectators. Congratulations to all who took part, and more importantly, kept many members in touch during the close season for bowls

In 2019, we have added a Petanque or Boules Terrain. This promises to be a popular game for Wythall Bowling Club members, and may be played over winter too if the weather is OK.

Our first doubles final was on Monday 23rd September, which was a wet and windy evening. Steve Rynne and Jan Lovesey beat Barrie Stokes and Carol Hall by three points.

We are about to start the Winter Cup, which is a series of singles matches. If you want to join in, please contact Les Guest.

Not sure how to play ? Take a look at a video below which introduces the game.
